Dr. Rosemarie Dinklage

Dr. Rosemarie Dinklage was born in Reppen, a city east of Berlin in Germany. When Rosemarie was 6 years old, she and her family - her mother and three sibling ages 1½, 4 and 15 - fled when the Russian soldiers invaded Germany. The family left on the very last train and settled in the Harz mountains.

When Dr. Dinklage was 15, the family moved to Mannheim, south of Frankfurt. At age 21, she spent 6 months as an au-pair in northern England. Less than a year later she was offered and accepted a position as a bilingual secretary in New York City. Years later, she worked as a translator and received her B.A. degree from Hunter College. She obtained her M.A. degree in school psychology at the University of South Florida and then worked for several years. Upon her husband’s death in 1980, she moved to Gainesville and earned her Ph.D. at the University of Florida. Her dissertation topic was Children’s Perception of War and Peace and the subjects were American and German 4th graders.

Dr. Dinklage retired from her career as a school psychologist and is now living with her dog Cloe, her seventh rescue dog. She enjoys reading, going to the theatre, meeting friends for dinner, and traveling whenever possible. She also enjoys writing about her adopted four-legged children. She has fond memories of her five cats and six dogs. All taught her valuable lessons.
